Dressing: How Much Cleavage Should We Reveal?

Onyii Chima (Ronica)

November 15, 2006

I love daring ladies. Ladies, still radiate femininity even in that piece of suit. Cosmo-ladies who will always be head-turners at any occasion,  that girl or lady who knows how much cleavage to reveal. I'm not a conservative Nigerian who thinks ladies should wrap up themselves like some piece of old clothes rather I believe every woman should radiate her femininity because that is what makes her different from man.

V-neck blouses, off-shoulder, and tube tops are always daring as long as you know where to draw the line between decency and indecency. Imagine, a sister with 'big boobs' all covered with cellulite wearing a low-cut, V-neck, off-shoulder blouse and an undersized bra. The picture is disgusting, all her boobs just bulge out of her blouse like a suffocated man about to break free.

Low waist trousers are really nice, as long as you wear your correct size and preferably with a matching belt. Sisters, don't wear oversized or undersized low waist trousers because when you  bend over, you reveal too much natal cleft and that could be repulsive.

So Cosmo-ladies, as we try to look Daring and Trendy, let us not forget how much cleavage to reveal.

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After The Vagina Monologue

Onyii Chima (Ronica)

October 5, 2006

If I had the opportunity of living this life again, I will come as a black and most importantly a Woman.
Earlier this year, There was a play staged in my country, Nigeria called 'The Vagina Monologue'. Well, the drama was a very intriguing and liberating one. It talked about the hard truth of female marginalization (I'm not a feminist). The most interesting part was the explicit way the female actresses on stage called the female sex organs by their real names e.g Vagina, Vulva etc usually always nickname.

Dear, it got a lot of men and conservative women embarrassed and self-conscious on their seats. Isn't it ridiculous? To think in the year 2006, we Nigerians, with all our sexual experiences can't stand when faced with an Angry Vulva.

Do you also think this article is vulgar or obscene? If you do, I guess you should have a re-think because I have only mentioned parts of the human anatomy. Every obscenity you read is in your mind and believe it or not, I wrote this article for you. It is time we all see the human parts as what they are, simply organs that are necessary to ensure the well being of the human body as a Whole.

Let us all move into the world of liberated people with more positive thoughts on our minds than sex.

Identifying Our Weakness; Our Potential Wealth Reserve

Onyii Chima (Ronica)

October 29, 2006

Nobody is Perfect. As humans, we all have our weakness but not all of us have been able to identify them. It could be in form of either our eating, talking, or even studying habits. It could be our great desire for PERFECTION. The most important thing about our weakness is the fact that it hinders us from achieving our goals and often brings us in conflict with other people.

One way to identify your weakness is listening to constructive criticism from friends and loved ones. These set of people are out to ensure our well-being and any part of our behaviour that falls short of expectation, they try to point it out to us in order to make us better. So as much as possible, we should try not to be on the defensive when faced with such criticisms but see it in a positive light and make good use of it.

Another way to identify our weakness is self-evaluation. A lot of people barely have time to evaluate themselves. We should ask ourselves questions like; 'Why didn't i achieve this or that? 'Why did I have this quarrel with Mr B? If we evaluate ourselves in this manner, we will identify our weaknesses which could be something as little as our eating habit or something as good as our desire for perfection.

Friends, identifying our weakness is a potential wealth reserve that can be used to achieve things beyond our ordinary expectation. When we identify and overcome our weaknesses, we realize that all our goals are attainable.

Hmmh, my weakness is the fact that I am HUMAN but my strength as a Christian is my God who strengthens me .

Obesity, The Enemy Within

Onyii Chima (Ronica)

October 21, 2006

Obesity simply means excess fat in the body. This fat can accumulate excessively from the body's inability to utilize ingested fat due to a disorder in its fat metabolism system or due to the ingestion of more fat than our body system can manage. What ever the cause of obesity, it is a disease and should be treated as such.

I decided to write about this disease because it is one fast eating into our society. People go about with the wrong conception that fat denotes health which is so untrue. I saw a young girl, she was short and so overweight. She was so comfortable with herself and claimed she liked being BIG. I felt pity for her. First, she looked like an overweight pig but more pitiable was the fact that she wasn't even aware she was ill and gradually killing herself.

The health hazards posed by obesity like every other illness cannot be over emphasized. Obesity makes us gluttons, it makes us sluggish, it makes us appear repulsive to the eyes, obesity leads to high blood pressure which invariably leads to cardiac attack and DEATH.

Folks, being fat is not a measure of health but rather of illness. If we, as claimed love ourselves, we should treat our body with as much care and caution as we can. Let us avoid eating too much food especially those high in cholesterol but rather eat food containing more of vegetables, fibres and water.

HEALTH IS WEALTH, PRESERVE YOUR WEALTH.

Toothpick Fashion

Onyii Chima (Ronica)

March 28, 2006

I was on my way to lecture the other day for a 10o'clock morning lecture and  noticed that about six people who passed by me at different intervals had toothpick in their mouth. After the lecture, I consulted some fashion experts on what was up with the toothpick. I wanted to know if toothpicks were now being sold as fashion accessories because it was so awkward for anyone to be carrying toothpick in his/ her mouth at that time of the day, especially when there was no cafeteria close by.

Well, if people have problems with their teeth and can't seem to get rid of food particles in them, they should go to a dentist for a thorough mouth wash. Carrying toothpick in the mouth is no fashion. Toothpicks are disposables; they should be used after meals and discarded not carried about in the mouth till your next meal like a goat with a piece of grass hanging out its mouth.

Friends, I long to hear from you. E-mail me with your questions, always send in your comments and contributions.

Kids And Sex Education

By: Ronica

March 17, 2006

Believe it or not, I loved my childhood because it was the most care-free period of my life. Unlike now when I have to worry about so many things. That is the reason I'm wondering why children of nowadays are so much in a hurry to leave childhood. Well, I'm talking about sexually active children.

It is a known fact that nothing matures an individual the way sex does. Sexual activities transform a child into an adult in a flash. A lady the other day was complaining about her 8 years old daughter who was having sex with a neighbor's 12 years old son. Folks, I was baffled! What do these kids know about the implication of their actions? They have barely left infancy. I guess neither the eight years old girl knows the harm she is causing to her fragile body, the dangers of  sexually transmitted diseases( STDs), AIDS; nor does the 12 years old boy. I feel this is happening because some parents don't educate their kids about sex especially before the first appearance of puberty.

I advocate for sex education to become part of school curriculum. Parents and other concerned adults should educate kids on the implication of underage sex. No beating about the bush! Tell them the truth: Sex causes unwanted pregnancies, it exposes one to STDs, it uses up energy, which children could channel into positive activities and development. Therefore, sex requires psychological and emotional maturity. It is worth waiting for.

Pass the message on, because we always need to treasure children and preserve their innocence.

Take A Break, Relax Or Crack up

By: Ronica

March 13, 2006

Hi friends,

I took a survey of the faces of youths around, my dear, the result was so alarming. I realized that they were all sulken and depressed. The faces lack the liveliness and luster that used to be the characteristics of a youth. For heaven's sake these are people who have not started to think of writing a Will. Youths in their prime who should have all the virility and prowness have become so dull and full of lethargy. I decided to go down to the root of this trend to sort its cause. Good news friends, I found the cause and cure. The cause is simply No Relaxation!. Guess you are just as surprised as I was when I first made the discovery, but it is true. Ask yourself this question 'When last did I take out time to relax?

Yeah, I know schooling could be so routine and take all the time, but there is need for you to relax from whatever you are doing; either schooling or working. Brain, muscles and nerves are like machines, nothing weakens them more than routine work. Go to the beach for a nice time out, just let yourself into the luxurious feeling of watching the waves and appreciating nature in its fullness or you can play games like volley ball with your friends at the beach side. Staying in your room to watch a movie is not as relaxing as going to the cinema or the theatre. Even if you own the movie, don't be so stingy to yourself, go out and pay to watch the movie. It always feels better in a movie place.

Another very nice way to relax is going out to party. I mean, daytime parties because night parties encroach on our bedtime. At the party, you get to dance and meet friends that chat you up making you forget all your worries and relax your nerves.

Now you know the cure is simply relaxation. There is no point working so hard, making so much money in life and, dear, at 60years,you are all CRACK-UP AND SENILE.

What's  A good Fashion Sense?

Hi Friends,

I don't know why people misconceive expensive clothes for good fashion sense. That is pathetic and grossly misleading. Wearing very expensive clothes does not mean a good fashion sense. The cost of a piece of clothe doesn't matter.  Rather what matters is whether it fits and in matching combination with other wears.

For instance, an orange blouse on a purple skirt, white pair of shoes, and perhaps a  black hand bag; no matter how much these cost, it makes a poor combination even on the best body shape. Colour could also match but one extra off-colour accessory would make the attire look awkward.

I met this pretty girl in a pair of jean, perfect blouse, shoe & bag to match, and lovely jewelries, but then some scarf from hell around her waist made her look like a hastily wrapped birthday gift.  Gurl, scarf goes on the neck and not on the waist. If a pair of trouser or skirt is falling off, sister, use a matching belt or safety pins to hold it together. A multi-color scarf around the waist? I don't get that!

Wearing clothes that are not suitable for a particular occasion does not make a good fashion sense either. For instance, would it make sense to wear a corporate suit to a beach party, or a pair of jean to a cocktail?.  Haba!, Every clothe has an occasion.

Folks, as you go about your daily activities, always remember that 'IT FEELS GOOD TO LOOK GOOD'. Looking good attracts people too. Avoid those fashion sense that scare people away.

Till next time, it's Ronica ur gurl writing from Nijai......
